Be comfortable in your own skin - it suits you

In YOUR Skin

A few years back I was watching a program on television called America’s Got Talent. There was a particular contestant that really grabbed my attention. He was so cool. I enjoyed listening to him sing & play the guitar but also, just observe his demeanor. He was just so – cool.

This situation got me thinking – the kind of thinking that goes beyond just wondering to the place of finding an answer.

I wanted to know – WHAT is it that makes someone “cool”?

My thoughts went back to school & the “cool kids”. Again – WHAT was “IT”? I even prayed about it – I had to know. These “cool” people HAVE something. WHAT is “IT”?

I came to the conclusion that they are what people refer to as “comfortable in their own skin”.

Yup – that guy was definitely comfortable with who he was in the complete sense. This proved to magnify to myself that “I” however was absolutely

This proved to magnify to myself that “I” however was absolutely not comfortable in my own skin in any manner. My personal identity had suffered many attacks.  And I had grown – by the grace of God – to the place of tolerating myself (mostly).

But comfortable was nowhere near where I was.

I set off to change that. I knew my God would help me – & He did.  He led me to this writing I have below to begin the process.

I read this over & over & over.

I read it out loud over & over & over.

I DARED TO BELIEVE.

YOU are more. YOU MATTER. Dare to Believe it. Click To Tweet

I would probably still not put that label of “cool” on myself but I have had times where I have felt comfortable in the skin God has given me. So if you have any issues with who you are & your value I encourage you to start. No – I dare you.

I dare you to believe you are valuable.

I know you are because my God purchased the opportunity to convince you how precious & loved you are. Thats what Jesus came for. Your skin is just what everyone sees.

YOU are more. YOU MATTER. Dare to Believe it.

You can’t be all things to all people

You can’t do all things at once

You can’t do all things equally well

You can’t do all things better than everyone else

Your humanity is showing just like everyone else’s

So:

You have to find out who you are, and be that

You have to decide what comes first, and do that

You have to discover your strengths, and use them

You have to learn not to compete with others

Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*

Then:

You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness

You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions

You will have learned to live with your limitations

You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due

And you’ll be a most vital human

Dare to Believe:

That you are a wonderful, unique person

That you are a once-in-all-history event

That it’s more than a right, it’s your duty, to be who you are

That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish

And you’ll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.
