The Power To Rise Up Is Within You

The Power To Rise Up Is Within You

We are in the midst of a global pandemic. Fear and panic are powerful forces seeking to traumatize as many as possible. But there is a power greater than the spirit of fear and the evil disease that spawned it.

I was writing about rising up and overcoming before this pandemic arose. It’s my brand. To help others grasp a thriving life instead of merely surviving.

Powers come against us in life seeking to destroy us. So often pain blinds us to the power resident within us that enables us to rise up higher. God has created human beings with amazing resiliency and offers a partnership with him and his power.

Tapping into that which God has put within you will empower you to overcome whatever power comes against you.

Children, you belong to God, and you have defeated these enemies. God’s Spirit is in you and is more powerful than the one who is in the world.1 John 4:4 CEV

WHAT WE SEE

The novel coronavirus (CoVid-19) is wreaking havoc in our world and people are acting out what is going on inside of them.

I’ve seen and heard some awful things as some reveal their lack of love and self-centeredness.

  • People hoarding toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
  • A man taking things out of another shoppers basket.
  • An elderly woman assaulting another woman with her shopping cart.
  • A young person spitting in an older person’s face and then declaring they would now die of the virus because they had it.
  • Two women fighting over a bag of peas at the store resulting in peas all over the floor.
  • A man says people are idiots for not complying with health directives and he hopes the stupid people die first.
  • Youths intentionally coughing on produce at the grocery store and making a video of it to post on social media.

But I’ve also seen and heard wonderful things as others let their love and faith shine.

  • A woman sends an email to her neighborhood email group offering to help during the isolation and asked who else wanted to help.
  • Multiple companies that have needed to close but pay their employees while they’re off.
  • Generous businesses that have offered services for free or at greatly reduced prices.
  • People gathering on their porches at an appointed time to sing the same song together. #playontheporch
  • A company starts a fund to help others in their industry who are suffering financial hardship.
  • Other entrepreneurs adding more money to the fund that was started.
  • Poem by an Irish priest turning the negative into positive

There are many more negative and positives I’ve seen.

But the point is that we are seeing come out of people that which they’re full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.Luke 6:45 NIV

You have the power to change what your heart is full of.

Let your light shine as an inspiration to humanity and BE THE REASON someone believes in the goodness of people. ―Germany Kent

YOUR POWER TO CHOSE

Where do you find yourself with your words and behavior?

  • If you find yourself in the demonstration of ugly words and behaviors you can rise up and change. You can choose to be part of the solution instead of adding to the problems. And if you don’t know how, you can choose to learn.
  • If you find yourself living in irritation with the ugly things you see and hear that is what will come out of you. Complaining only adds to the problem. You can choose to be positive instead.
  • If you find yourself encouraging others to be kind and compassionate, keep doing that. You have chosen a good thing. You’re rising above the negativity and fear in the world.

One thing that is important to note is that at any time you can choose to make a change using your superpower of choice.

You can choose to engage your superpower of how to respond.

We have to confront ourselves. Do we like what we see in the mirror? And, according to our light, according to our understanding, according to our courage, we will have to say yea or nay – and rise! —Maya Angelou

CHOOSING TO RISE UP

A beautiful thing happen when we chose to rise up – we inspire others. We become part of a chain reaction of hope, faith, and love.

We lift others as we rise. Let’s rise up together in love and emerge stronger on the other side of this crisis.

Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.Matthew 5:16

Choosing to rise is the beginning of the process of growth.
