Incredible power of song

WHY THERE’S INCREDIBLE POWER IN SONG (16 songs to encourage)

Encouragement is like air. We need it repetitively just like we need to keep breathing to live. There are many ways we gain encouragement. I’ve written about quotes, books, and words from our spiritual source.

Here let’s talk about songs.

Songs are the merging of words and music together.

You know that. But the merging creates an incredible power the definition fails to convey.

Music alone is emotionally powerful with its rhythm and melodies.

Our bodies instinctively respond with movement. I read how one author said that dancing is being obedient to the music.

Think of that next time a song comes on and you can’t help but move, sway, dance, tap your foot or whatnot.

Music carries a strange power to make us obey.

Music is a world within itself, it is a language we all understand. Stevie Wonder

Words alone are powerful for good or for evil.

Written or spoken, they can build up or tear down.

They carry messages into our souls.

Think of encouraging words or the berating of bullies.

In the spoken word, we hear volume and tone which plants the message deeper, sometimes invoking a physical reaction or response like music.

Think about that next time you hear a mom talking to her child and the child is ignoring her and then the dad raises his voice saying listen to your mother and immediate obedience occurs.

Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble. Yehuda Berg

Merging music and words together creates an incredible power.

That power has potential.

Songs are powerful.

Think of how we teach children their alphabet in English—the abc song.

I bet you can still sing it as an adult even if you don’t have children. The power of the two united helps create memory.

Harnessing that power you can encourage yourself to do what you need.

What are you going through and what do you need right now in your life?

Tapping into the power

Below are music videos (with the lyrics) that provide power on different subjects.

Some I’ve used to encourage myself successfully.

  1. It is incredible how songs are able to take you to a place in your memory & bring you back to that place. There are many songs that bring a smile to my face specially if I had not heard it for a while. The memories come rushing back. Kinda like that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine’s boyfriend spaces out when he hears “Desperado”.

Yes it is and me too!

Desperado. Wow I have history with that song myself. Haven’t heard it in a long time. Probably a good thing. 😉

That’s awesome! I think my all time favorite of theirs is Voice of Truth.

          1. I love everything they have ever put out. Watching them in concert gives me the holy chill factor!

I’m so happy you get to see them!

  3. Another powerful thing about song is that like prayer, and perhaps even more potent than “recited” prayer is that song gives us a way of expressing things (emotionally, orally, and bodily) when our own ability to pray or speak fails us!
